# Why Your Wallet Shows Different Balances on Base

Same wallet address, different balance? Learn how networks, token contracts, native ETH and portfolio filters affect what you see in Lemon Jet.

Your wallet shows a balance. You select Base, open Lemon Jet and see a
different number. The address has not changed, so where did the tokens go?

Often, they have not moved. A balance belongs to a particular address, network
and asset. A portfolio can display several balances together, while an action
needs specific funds.

For Lemon Jet players, this explains why a portfolio can contain valuable
assets while the Base LJT or ETH balance remains low.

## The same address can have separate balances

An ordinary EVM wallet account can use the same address on Ethereum, Base,
Arbitrum and other compatible networks. Each blockchain maintains its own
records of what that address holds. MetaMask explains this shared address
format in its [guide to Ethereum
addresses](https://support.metamask.io/more-web3/learn/the-ethereum-address-format-and-why-it-matters-when-using-metamask/).

"ETH on Ethereum" and "ETH on Base" identify funds recorded in different places.
Selecting Base in a wallet does not relocate ETH from Ethereum.

If connecting through a different wallet gives you a different address, compare
the accounts first. Switching networks cannot show another account's holdings.

## Your portfolio total is not your Base spending balance

Lemon Jet's wallet groups assets by network and shows a combined portfolio
value. It is not a shared balance from which any action can spend.

For example, consider this hypothetical portfolio:

| Asset location | What the balance means |
| --- | --- |
| ETH on Ethereum | Funds recorded on Ethereum |
| USDC on Base | That USDC token's balance on Base |
| LJT on Base | LJT available at that Base address |
| Native ETH on Base | ETH available for ordinary Base transaction fees |

The total value may include several rows. A round using LJT still needs the
relevant LJT balance, and a transaction requiring gas needs the appropriate

## A token's symbol is only part of its identity

Two assets can display the same name or symbol without being the same token.
For an ERC-20 token, check both its network and contract address. A familiar
logo or ticker alone does not establish that it is the asset an application
accepts.

When checking LJT, use the official contract reference from Lemon Jet's token
guide and compare it on Base. When receiving any other token, verify its exact
version with the sender or service. Native and bridged versions of an asset
can have different contracts and different support across applications.

## ETH and wrapped ETH have separate jobs

WETH is a token representation of ETH. It is held through a token contract,
while native ETH has its own network balance. Ethereum's [wrapped ETH
guide](https://ethereum.org/wrapped-eth/) explains that ordinary gas payment
uses native ETH, and wrapping or unwrapping also requires gas.

Consequently, seeing WETH on Base does not mean your native ETH balance is
funded. Likewise, ETH held on Ethereum does not pay the fee for your ordinary

## When a token is missing from the display

The Lemon Jet wallet includes token search, network groups and a control for
showing unverified tokens. Check those controls before assuming that a token
has disappeared. A hidden entry is a display choice; it does not remove the
token from the address.

The dollar total can also exclude assets without an available market price.
An absent valuation does not, by itself, establish a zero token balance or a
price at which you can sell.

If a balance service is unavailable, the wallet can report incomplete data.
Use the sync control, then check the address on the appropriate network's
explorer. Do not treat a partial portfolio as a complete statement of your
holdings. If you expected a recent incoming transfer, follow its [transaction

## Check the destination before moving funds

For a transfer to Base, verify the receiving address, Base network and required
token with the sender. An address alone does not communicate the intended
network. Sending on another network does not automatically bridge the funds.

### Will switching to Base bring my Ethereum balance with me?

No. The selected network changes the records you view and interact with.
Moving funds between networks requires an appropriate transfer route.

### Can I use my whole portfolio value for an LJT round?

No. A portfolio valuation can combine different tokens and networks. An LJT
round uses the required LJT balance on Base.

### Does a missing dollar price mean my tokens are gone?

No. Token quantity and market valuation are separate data. Check the token
balance, network and contract on the relevant explorer.
